Mr. John Strickland serves as Principal of West Junior High School, bringing more than 36 years of educational experience and a lifelong commitment to student success. He joined Fayette County Public Schools during the 2025–2026 school year as Assistant Principal at Buckley-Carpenter Elementary School before being named principal of West Junior High.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Strickland has served in a variety of leadership roles, including teacher, coach, assistant principal, athletic director, principal, Pre-K director, transportation director, and director of state accountability. His extensive experience has equipped him with a deep understanding of school leadership, instructional excellence, and organizational improvement.

Mr. Strickland earned an Education Specialist degree and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Troy State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from Georgia College and State University.

Known for his servant leadership philosophy, Mr. Strickland is passionate about building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community. He believes every student can achieve success when supported by high expectations, meaningful relationships, and a positive school culture focused on continuous growth and excellence.

He is honored to serve the students and families of West Junior High School and is committed to working alongside the entire school community to ensure every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
