School Counseling Vision Statement
The vision of Fayette County Public Schools' counseling program is to empower all students to reach their fullest potential with the focus on academic growth, social and emotional health, and college and career readiness of every student, every day.

School Counseling Mission Statement
As School Counselors in Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS), we support the mission of the district by providing a proactive, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate school counseling program that addresses students' academic, social and emotional, and college/career goals.  Students of FCPS will receive intentional, evidence-based, and data driven interventions to remove educational barriers.  This is accomplished through a partnership between parents/guardians, staff, and community stakeholders to enable all students to become contributing citizens and life-long learners in a diverse and changing world.
Classroom Lessons
Classroom counseling lessons focus on developmental needs and may include friendship skills, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, study skills, career awareness, and other topics.
Each exploratory classroom receives a counseling lesson every week (with the exception of short weeks for vacations and holidays and assessments). Curriculum used: Second Step

About Mrs. Turnley:turnley
My name is Miranda Turnley and this is my 9th year as a school counselor. My purpose is to work with students to promote academic, emotional, and social development through individual and group counseling, classroom lessons, and referring families to community resources when needed.

It is rewarding to help students to meet their goals and grow to become responsible, caring and contributing citizens. My office is a safe, private place for students to share their feelings. We work together to find ideas to help cope with struggles and concerns, and generate strategies in the development of independent, peaceful problem-solving skills.

I enjoy working with West students and their families and feel so grateful to be here!
